Woodland Brook Closure "Woodland Brook will be closed from Keswick to Brandy Station starting June 18, 2012 through July 29, 2012. It is expected that Speed Humps on Randall Farm Road should prevent speeders along the residential street. Emergency response teams have been made aware of the pending road closure and have alternate plans to access the affected areas. Signage providing detour direction around Vinings Village to neighboring communities have been strategically placed. It is hoped that as a by-product of the improvements, travelers who have used Woodland Brook Rd. as a pass-through to other destinations in the past, will find the detour routes more efficient for future travel." Most rides will use the Randall Farm reroute.

Tucker Ride Detour The Tucker Ride will follow the posted detour for the work on Stone Mountain-Lithonia Rd. while construction is underway. The detour will add only a nominal distance.

The property at the Montaluce Winery was just begging for an event like this.  A 6.5 run over varying terrain will be sure to challenge and thrill runners and spectators alike.  Don't think you can handle a run after knocking out the mountain bike race? That's ok we have individual and team categories.  See below for details. We have 100 additional spots for the 2012 race- 200 for the 50 miler and 200 for the 100 miler.  Both races will sell out so don't wait to register.  You can find online registration and a confirmed riders list at athlete360.com

6-26-2012 Tour De Fat From the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition: New Belgium's support for cycling keeps growing in Atlanta. After last year's Atlanta launch of the Clips of Faith Beer and Film Festival, New Belgium invited ABC to be part of Atlanta's first-ever Tour de Fat, the biggest, most enjoyable traveling bike festival ever! Proceeds from the event will benefit the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, as well as Sopo Bicycle Coop and IMBA-SORBA. The day kicks off in Historic Fourth Ward Park with a zany, costumed bike parade, followed by a bike & beer festival. Stick around for performances by Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Yo-Yo People, Sean Hayes, and Sssnakenstein, circus- and vaudeville-type acts, even bicycle dance troupes. The fun is on Saturday, June 30 from 9-3:30 in the Fourth Ward.

6-27-2012 This Weekend This is a quite weekend around Georgia as far as racing goes. I don't know of a single cycling race, road or mountain, happening. The Cartersville Century is on Saturday. It's one of the best supported centuries around. Plenty of racers will be out there to keep you company. Next weekend there is the GCS #5 Arrowhead race on the new Arrowhead trails in Macon. It's the first race there since the tornados destroyed the trails several years ago. The Georgia Games Crit, RR, and TT will happen around Atlanta for the roadies. Check out a map of the TT course. The Omnium will take place at the Dick Lane Velodrome on Saturday. The DLV is always fun to watch! Click here to get to the FREE Admission coupon.

The Atlanta Cycling stores-Vinings and Ansley, are proud to sponsor this holiday event. Please join us on Labor Day morning for a ride through rural Chattahoochee Hill Country in support of Campbellton UM Church. This is the small church that has been so supportive and welcoming of cyclists over the years. The riders named this area “Silk Sheets” for the smooth pavement, low traffic, and gently rolling terrain that is so popular with cyclists. Please register early. We expect this ride to sell out during pre-registration. Registered riders may pick up their wrist bands and rider materials at the parking area on the morning of the ride. Registration opens at 8:00. Following the ride, riders will be treated to an old fashioned, sit down, summer cookout/picnic in the church’s open pavilion under the heavily shaded canopy of surrounding oaks. It’s a great setting; please register today !!!!!
