5-21-2021 Willeo Road Closed Trish’s Note: This is a popular road to ride on down by the Chattahoochee River in Roswell and into Cobb County. From the City of Roswell Beginning on Tuesday, June 1, a portion of Willeo Road that runs over Willeo Creek will be closed for construction of a bridge replacement project. The project—located between Bywater Trail and Timber Road/Lower Roswell Road at the Cobb/Fulton County line—will be completely replaced through a partnership between the City of Roswell and Cobb County. It is anticipated that the bridge will remain closed for a minimum of four (4) months. The project is expected to be completed in Winter 2021/2022. The timeline is subject to change based on weather conditions and other project needs. Electronic signs will be put in place before the closure of the bridge to provide notification and reminders to the traveling public. Local Traffic will have access to the neighborhood of Riverview at Inverness (Bywater Trail) and also Willeo Park. Through traffic will be re-routed using Timber Ridge Road, SR 120/Roswell Road, and Willeo Road between SR 120/ Roswell Road and Riverside Road.

5-20-2021 MTB Atlanta Launches Three New Trail Projects in Metro Atlanta Press Release MTB Atlanta has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land (STPAL) to design, fund, build and maintain trails on STPAL lands in Metro Atlanta and the Southeast. MTB Atlanta and STPAL have kicked off 3 new trail projects in Metro Atlanta in 2021 at Canongate Nature Preserve in Coweta County, Pumpkinvine Creek Nature Preserve in Paulding County and Campbellton Creek Nature Preserve in the City of South Fulton. Zoning has been approved and construction has begun at the new Canongate Nature Preserve on Canongate Road in Coweta County. STPAL has hired MTB Atlanta Pro Trails, MTB Atlanta’s professional trail building crew, to build a one to two mile bike optimized trail that will serve the Canongate neighborhood and Northgate High School. Canongate will serve as a practice site for the SWAY Youth Mountain Bike Club and the Northgate High School Georgia Cycling League Mountain Bike Team. Planning and design has begun for Campbellton Creek Nature Preserve in the City of South Fulton and Pumpkinvine Creek Nature Preserve in Dallas, just off the Silver Comet Trail in Paulding County.

Georgia Games Cycling Races Press Release The Georgia State Games Commission is hosting its 20th annual Georgia State Games Cycling Championships. There will be a road race in White, GA on July 10th, and a Time Trial and Criterium in Marietta, GA on July 11th. There will be a wide range of categories-from juniors, men and women categories, all the way up to Masters 65+. The event will be sanctioned by the State of Georgia, as well as by USA Cycling. There will also be chip timing for all races. The top three finishers in each division will receive a medal, and Georgia Games Cycling Jerseys will be handed out for Omnium winners.
The easiest way to register is to go to http://georgiagames.org and click on either of the three cycling events and choose the “Online Registration” option on the left-hand side of the screen. The early deadline to register online is July 25th, and after that there will be an additional charge. Online registration is open until July 8th. You can also register in-person for the event the day-of, but it may take longer to register compared to doing it beforehand. The Georgia State Games Cycling Championships also needs many volunteers and sponsors. We need people to help work at feed zones, and people to drive both in-front and behind the cyclists to ensure safety. The Georgia Games runs on the kindness of volunteers! 5-18-2021 Marietta Tuesday Night Crit Today is Picture Day at the MTNC! The ride is sponsored for the night, so no need to bring $5. Normally the donations are collected to pay for the police officer that the business park requires for turn 1. Be sure to sign in at turn 1 for free samples of LactiGo and Aminorip and be eligible for the gift card giveaways. Official roll-out is 6:30, but please be early to preview the course and sign in! The crib is 60 minutes + 5 laps. Drop in and out as you like.
SERC is Suspended for 2021 From Gone Riding: Due to scheduling issues and circumstances beyond our control Gone Riding will suspend the 2021 South Eastern Regional Championship Series or SERC. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will now consolidate our efforts and resources towards the Georgia State Championship series for 2021. Any pre registrations for the suspended events (SERC #5 & SERC#7) will be automatically refunded. The 2021 GSC series (Georgia State Championship series) will continue as planned with one adjustment to the makeup race, the GSC make up race will now be the BUMP N GRIND race in Birmingham, Al on May 30th. RAMBO Trailhead Reopened? Pretty solid rumor has it that the Silver Comet RAMBO Trailhead is back open, and the parking lot has fresh tarmac.
4-28-2021 RAMBO Trailhead Closed There are closed until further notice signs up at the RAMBO Silver Comet Trailhead according to several Facebook groups. The parking lot may be paved shortly. You may wish to park at Coots Lake or Tara Drummond for the next few weeks.

4-27-2021 Fox Raceface XC Trail at Michelin Raceway Open Every Saturday Morning in May! Join some of the Georgia Cycling teams on the Fox XC Trails and raise money for the teams. The trail will be open 8 am – 1 pm every Saturday in May. The minimum donation is $5/rider with a $10/rider suggested donation. Students-Athletes & Coaches registered in the Georgia Cycling HUB for the 2021 season may ride for free. 4-20-2021 Blankets Creek 3 and 6 Hour Race – Coming June 19th – NEW COURSE FOR 2021! From Mountain Goat Adventures Make plans to join us for the Blankets Creek 3 and 6 Hour Race presented by Free-Flite Bicycles on June 19th. Register early as we are still at reduced capacity for our events and we expect this race to fill up. Solo, 2 and 3 person team categories are available in the 6 Hour Race. The 3 Hour Option has a TON of categories for those who wish to ride 3 hours solo, as well as a one and two lap option for junior riders.
We are switching things up for 2021 with a new slightly different course configuration and direction. For 2021, we will be riding CLOCKWISE on both Dwelling and VMT. For the opening lap riders will head straight down Hamilton’s Hop to space out before hitting the Dwelling Trail. Riders will enter Dwelling to the left and ride clockwise up to the bench at the top of the Flow Trails, following the advanced line up to the top. Riders will descend the Rock and Roll Flow Trail down to the bottom and continue riding Dwelling clockwise, using intermediate lines on the remainder of the Dwelling Trail. Riders exit Dwelling to Hamilton’s Hop, cross the bridge and turn left onto Mosquito Flats. The course follows Mosquito Flats to the Mosquito Bite/Van Michael Trail, entering in the CLOCKWISE direction over the wooden boardwalks. Riders will complete the Van Michael Trail clockwise, but will skip Kevorkian Pass and the 420 climb. Once done with VMT, riders will take a left onto Mosquito Flats and ride back towards the parking lot. Riders will take a left on Hamiltons Hop, then left again to an access trail that goes around the metal building and around the paved portion of the parking lot. Teammate exchanges can take place anywhere along the parking lot loop. For subsequent laps, riders will take a left onto Creekside Mosquito Flats on their way to Dwelling. Total distance (with the loop around the parking lot) is approximately 8.3 miles with roughly 780′ of elevation gain per lap. This course configuration offers longer climbs but also longer descent sections and some fun jumps and flow on Dwelling and VMT. The clockwise direction will also allow for Friday pre-riding in the race direction. Compared to last year’s course, it is about 4/10ths of a mile longer with about 50′ more elevation gain, so expect lap times to be about two minutes slower than in 2020. NO MASS START FOR 2021 – STARTS WILL BE STAGGERED BY CATEGORY – We will post start waves/times the week before the event.
