Rides

A note about Zwift rides. This is not a resource for Zwift or virtual/e-rides, only in person rides. Please check with your favorite Zwift group on social media for rides and races. There are too many groups to list here.

Atlanta Area Group Road Rides
These rides are put on by various organizations and bike shops around the greater metro Atlanta, Georgia USA area. Some rides do not have a leader and are “pick up rides.” Contact the ride leader/shop/club to verify that the ride is still going on. Unless specified, these are hard training rides geared towards advanced riders and racers and those that have group riding experience. Aerobars or tri-bikes are not allowed on group rides. If you have them, do NOT ride in them in the group. Expect to be dropped and be on your own if you cannot keep up with the group. Beginner or no drop rides are specified in the description. Cycling is a dangerous sport. Southeastern Cycling, Trish Albert, and the sponsoring ride groups are not responsible if you get lost or hurt on these rides. You ride at your own risk and assume all responsibility for yourself and your equipment. All ride times given are Daylight Saving Time unless noted. Many rides stop after Daylight Savings Time ends. Check with the sponsoring organization for specifics about any rides. Please note that all times are PM (afternoon/evening) unless otherwise stated
. The page is updated at the beginning of every Daylight Saving Time and throughout the year as we are made aware of ride changes. Most shops/groups have the GPS files available on their websites. Since ride routes change often, I am no longer posting these. Please check with your health professional before beginning cycling.

Winter ‘Za Before the advent of such online mental health services as Better Help (Et al), a rag-tag group of PTN’ers decided to spawn a bastard version of PZA in the winter and continue rolling to the rock at 6:00pm every Thursday evening, in the dark and the cold. Some folks just can’t be reached. Get well soon, friends.

TUK you in, warm within It only took about three years to herd the cats and get (most) everyone on board with the summer 9:00a/9:05a TUK A/B split. So what we gon’ do? Go ahead and poke the bear again! Moving a half hour up to the 9:30a area is a bad trade. The full hour shift makes sense. Don’t worry, you can still fritter away yer afternoon and disappoint your family in all the usual ways, just an hour later.

TUK B @ 10:05am
Begins Saturday, November 12th

Atlanta Cycling Rides – Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 from the Vinings shop for winter or “winter +” pace on the Vinings loop.

Spring 2022

ATL PTN RIdes
Nasty Northlake Tuesdays will be nasty once again. The always vicious Nasty Northlake (NNL) returns to its roots with the official start moved back to the eponymous Northlake location. Sometimes the old ways are the best. Here’s the Google Maps link to said location. The Northlake start rolls at 6:00pm but many who either live closer to Stone Mountain and/or those scurred of climbing Midvale at mach 1 congregate at the car was just outside of the Stone Mountain park entrance at around 6:30pm-6700-6672 James B Rivers Memorial Dr.

Beginning Saturday, April 2nd: Tucker A rolls at 9:00am with Tucker B rolling at 9:05am. Let the gnashing of teeth commence but…this structure allows for those riders on the cusp of becoming A riders to try their hand (once truly ready) and, if dropped, get scooped up by B shortly thereafter. TUK A is a no-holds-barred drop ride. TUK B is a challenging but steady ride that is not meant for surging or attacking. Here’s a basic TUK primer: If you struggle to stay on B, don’t start with A. If you are an A-level rider and want to blow B to bits for kicks GTFO.
