Fools Gold Registration Op
en
From Mountain Goat Adventures
The 2025 Maxxis Tires Fools Gold will be held on September 13, 2025 at the beautiful Montaluce Winery , in Dahlonega, GA. This is a challenging but fun course that you will feel good about finishing! Expect epic mountain singletrack with tough climbs and screaming descents. There are multiple aid station opportunities to ensure you stay fueled up during the race. All entries include free on-site camping, a lightweight and comfy race shirt, event swag, finisher medal, and post race burrito and bevs! Both courses begin at Montaluce Winery and will have approximately 3 miles on pavement, then transition to gravel roads. The 54 mile course begins with a stout 3 mile gravel road climb. The long course will remain on the ridgeline gravel road for 6 miles all the way to Winding Stair Gap and Aid 1. A fast gravel descent then takes riders onto the singletrack of the Turner Creek Trail. From here, riders will descend back to FS 28-1, and join the 38 mile course for the remainder of the race, which includes the Jones Creek Dam Trail, Bull Mountain Trail and Loop, Jake Mountain Trail and Black Branch Trail. The 38 mile course heads directly to the Jones Creek Dam Trail along gravel roads, giving riders the opportunity to space out. Essentially, the shorter course just cuts off the first section of gravel road climbing and ridge riding, and heads directly to the singletrack loop.

This shift will help us build momentum, engage more riders, and make every MTNC even better. So mark your calendars—our next ride will be June 3rd! Help us spread the word, rally your teammates, and let’s keep the wheels turning. ” Trish’s Note: Additional Dates are July 1 and August 5.

New Trail Coming to Dawson County, GA
From Singletracks.com
“Dawson County’s first bike-optimized trails are being built in Styles Park

The land, which is now known as “Styles Park,” will soon be home to the first bike-optimized trails in Dawson County. While nearby Dawson Forest technically has some bike-legal singletrack in it, the historic trails there are disjointed, hard to follow, and often rutted.

In contrast, the trails being built in Styles Park will be flowy, bike-optimized singletrack. While technically, the 4.5-mile singletrack loop is indeed multi-use, it’s being built with mountain bikes in mind.” Read the full article on Singletracks.com.

From Mountain Goat Adventures Facebook post–PLEASE SUPPORT THIS RACE THAT RAISES MONEY FOR SORBA WOODSTOCK! TELL YOUR FRIENDS THAT RUN, TOO!
Long post but I wanted to give everyone a quick event update for the upcoming Rope Mill Fast 15 MTB Race and Rope Mill 10k and Half Marathon Trail Run. I’ll start out by saying that BOTH OF THESE EVENTS WILL HAPPEN – Chris and I are committed to making both of these events happen this year regardless of participant numbers, even if it means taking a loss. I do this for all those who already registered and support us as well as for the direct financial support that Sorba Woodstock receives from our event Title Sponsors, which for this event alone is $2500.

Many don’t realize this but since we started partnering with Sorba Woodstock in 2011, all monetary donations received from high level event sponsors has gone directly to SORBA Woodstock (ranging from $13,000 to $20,000 PER YEAR ) and ZERO dollars of that has ever been used to cover race expenses that we incur. In past years, we have always been blessed with good attendance that has more than covered our expenses and also allowed me to organize events full time. which is what I absolutely love doing.

All this being said, looking at the Rope Mill events coming up in two weeks, we have 41 riders registed for the bike race and only 61 runners registered for the trail run. Our normal attendance for this event is 250-275 total participants so our current numbers aren’t nearly enough to sustain the event moving forward. If this event can’t continue in the future, not only do those still attending miss out, but SORBA Woodstock also misses out on sponsorship donations that go directly back into our local trails.

So now I’m asking for your help…If you love our events, please share with your run and ride buddies and encourage them to sign up, or better yet, sign up with them and bring your crew. If you don’t race, share our events with those you know who do, or come out and volunteer for a few hours on race day.

We still have 5 DONATED FULLY PAID ENTRIES available from sponsors – if you want to race but are low on funds right now, please reach out to us and you can use one of these entries. We would love to have you join us and experience our events.

Starting Mountain Goat Adventures has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and still remains my passion. It was the constant that helped me work through the lowest point of my life and gave me something to focus on so I could keep moving forward. We actually had one of our best years when I was at my worst so thank you all for saving ME and giving me a purpose. I love to see the excitement of new participants and watch our runners and riders make lasting positive life changes through exercise and competition. I have loved watching all of our local ‘race kids’ grow and develop through middle school, high school and into college. So please, help me keep my dream alive by doing what you can…sign up, spread the word, become a sponsor or volunteer, or come to an event to cheer and see this wonderful community that we have built around our events.
