North Carolina Grand Prix Celebrates 20 Years of Elite Racing in Hendersonville, NC, with Olympians, National Champions, and Local Racers
Wednesday, November 19, 2025 – Hendersonville, NC:
The North Carolina Grand Prix (NCGP) is celebrating the 20th year of international bike racing in Hendersonville, NC on November 22-23, 2025. The event takes place annually in Jackson Park, and showcases both professional racers, and local youth and masters race events.
Cyclocross is a fast-paced, spectator-friendly cycling discipline that combines road and mountain bike aspects, requiring riders to switch terrains and at times dismount and run or carry their bikes. Racers range from junior riders to master’s categories, and novice-elite races are offered.
This year’s race elite roster highlights include Olympic Gold Medalist, World Champion, and Swiss National Champion Jolanda Neff, 2024-2025 U23 Pan-American Champion Lauren Zoerner, Canadian Cyclocross National Champion Tyler Clark, 11-time NCGP Winner and 2020 Pan-American Champion Kerry Werner, and former World Cyclocross Team USA member and local coach Tristan Cowie.
The event is free for spectators to watch and support local vendors like the Flat Rock Village Bakery and more. Jackson Park, located at 708 Glover St. in Hendersonville, will remain open all weekend for public use, but there will be no through traffic during the event. The best entrance into Jackson Park for the event is from the Glover St. entrance located off Spartanburg Hwy.
The NCGP is hosted by North Carolina Cyclo-Cross (NCCX) and presented by sponsor Hunter Subaru. Supporting partners are Baird Private Wealth Management, and DeFeet International.
“It’s exciting to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the NCGP in 2025. The race has become one of the longest standing UCI cyclo cross races in the country,” shares series and event founder/owner Tim Hopkin. “Going back and looking at the Elite race winners it’s fun seeing the amazing caliber of racers the event has attracted, Olympic gold medalists, national champions from various countries, UCI World Cup winners and many US National team members. Our long time title sponsor Hunter Subaru has been integral in making it possible to host the event year after year. Come celebrate our 20th edition and cheer on the athletes this weekend”.
- Registration is open on BikeReg.com for UCI, open, junior, and collegiate categories. Team parking reservations and vendor spaces are available. Collegiate teams may request complimentary parking via email.
- Racing will start at 8:10 a.m. on both race days, with the featured UCI Elite Women starting at 1:15 p.m. ET and the UCI Elite Men starting at 3:25 p.m. ET. The NCGP will also feature the UCI Jr 17-18 Women and Men categories at 10:05am ET and 11:00am ET.
- Live streaming of the race will be provided with access shared on social and the NCCX website when live.
The North Carolina Cyclo-Cross Series was founded in 1997 and consists of 12 races each season across North Carolina. The full schedule and racer information can be found on the NCCX website at www.nccyclocross.com.
New Georgia Based Team
From Cyclingnews.com
Former US under-23 time trial national champion Michael Garrison will join forces with former US junior road race winner Cole Davis for the SpeedStudio p/b Basso team in 2026, the duo combining for road, mountain bike and gravel competitions in the US and abroad.
Garrison launched an independent racing programme two years ago, MGR p/b +SpeedStudio, for competing in multiple disciplines after four seasons on the road with Hagens Berman Axeon development team. He had sporadic success, like second overall in the 2024 SpeedWeek criterium series with a mix of top results off-road and one-day road events in 2025, such as Homegrown Gravel and Spartanburg Criterium victories, and saw the need for more support in matches against strong teams.
“I’m going to have a teammate,” Garrison exclaimed to Cyclingnews about the new development for a third season in defying the conventional and controlling a diverse path in pro cycling. Read the full article.

Gravel Roll News
From Gravel Roll (edited for length)
It’s that time of year. Even though we just wrapped up our season, it’s time to announce our 2026 host cities and dates! We’ll be Rolling out these announcements over the next few weeks plus some information on our Season Passes. There will be a week of Early Roller pricing after each date announcement and then for Black Friday we will drop our Season Pass which will be “enhanced” with a few additional pass holder only benefits. Another exciting change for 2026, is that we are reducing our “short” course entry fees! We think that will allow many of you an even better opportunity to try out the Gravel Roll. Overall we are trying to keep our fees low. Our costs this year inflated about 14% but we are only going to increase regs fees by $3 for 2026. We will continue to absorb 50% of the bikereg “ticketmaster” fees instead of passing those on to you.
Our host cities footprint is expanding a little bit so others can join the fun. They are going to be 1:30, 1:45, 1:50 and 3:00 hours from Atlanta proper, but getting us between other southern metro areas. Our first date announcement for the 2026 Gravel Roll, is going to be May 9th for the Opelika Okey Dokey! The Okey Dokey will continue to be what you know and expect, that great finish on Railroad Ave in Opelika with Red Clay beer, John Emerald Spirits, puppers to love on and great vendors selling unique, locally made products – that bourbon barrel aged honey last year was AH-mazing!

Carlos Moreno Memorial Ride
On Sunday, Oct. 19 Carlos Moreno was struck and killed by a drunk drive along Sugar Pike road in Canton, GA (Cherokee County). Sat., Oct. 25 several hundred cyclists gathered to participate in a memorial ride. His family was there and very moved by the turn out from his cycling fam. BikeFriendlyATL placed a ghost bike in Carlos’s honor. Carlos was a member of the Webb Bridge Ride, NCGA, and others. Fox 5 Atlanta reporter Denise Dillon and Kelly Loeffler did 2 stories last week about the incident. The (alleged) driver is in the Cherokee County jail on multiple DUI and vehicular homicide charges. My heart and thoughts go out to his friends and family during this time.
A GoFundMe has been set up for the family and his 4 children (2 young adults & 2 older teens). Please consider donating to support the family during this time. (And yes, I donated as well.) (As an aside Denise is a triathlete and media friend to cyclists.)

Athens to Savannah Ride
From Georgia Hi-Lo Trail Press Release
SANDERSVILLE, GA, October 22, 2025 — Georgia Hi-Lo Trail, Inc. announces a new chapter for the Athens to Savannah Ride. Beginning in 2026, a partnership between MTB Atlanta, East Point Track Club, and Independent Gravel will assume leadership of the beloved four-day, 285-mile gravel adventure, continuing as a fundraiser for the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail. This transition marks an exciting new chapter in the event’s 26-year history, ensuring the ride continues to grow, innovate, and connect communities across Georgia.
To honor the event’s legacy, that began under the development and leadership of Wallace Salter, before transitioning to Ken Sherman and then the nonprofit Georgia Hi-Lo Trail, Georgia Hi-Lo Trail Founder and Executive Director Mary Charles Howard will lead a small group of cyclists out of Athens on October 23rd. The scaled down ride to Savannah will celebrate the ride’s evolution — from its beginnings as a two-day road tour, to its transformation under Georgia Hi-Lo Trail into one of the southeast’s premier multi-day gravel events.
“The Athens to Savannah Ride has always been about connection — amongst the host destinations, the cyclists who come to experience this journey through rural Georgia on our amazing gravel roads, and all of the organizations throughout our communities that come together to make this event special,” said Mary Charles Howard, Executive Director of Georgia Hi-Lo Trail. “As we pass the baton to MTB Atlanta and partners, we’re excited about the opportunity for an enhanced rider experience and continued growth this partnership will bring, while the ride’s purpose as a fundraiser for the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail remains stronger than ever.” Since 2019, Georgia Hi-Lo Trail has hosted the Athens to Savannah Ride as an annual fundraiser to support development of the 211-mile Georgia Hi-Lo Trail. The event has raised awareness and funding for the organization’s mission to build healthy, vibrant, and connected rural communities through outdoor recreation and trail development. Under MTB Atlanta, East Point Track Club and Independent Gravel’s direction, the Athens to Savannah Ride will continue to challenge and inspire cyclists from across the country while benefiting the ongoing efforts to complete the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail. Riders, sponsors, and supporters can expect updates in early 2026 about registration and route enhancements for next year’s ride.
