A totally new venue at Allatoona Creek Park. Mountain bikers will recognize that as the largest purpose built MTB park in the state.

New E-Bike Ordinance in Woodstock, GA

“WOODSTOCK, Ga. — Woodstock approved new regulations for the use of e-bikes on parks and trails, limiting it to adults 18+ and with a speed limit of 20 miles per hour, while also prohibiting them from sidewalks.
The city said in a release the ordinance came about after “residents shared concerns about youth riding high-speed devices on city streets, inconsistent trail rules, and the need for clear guidelines as new mobility technologies become more common.”
The city said it preserved “existing protections for wheelchairs and other mobility-assistance equipment” while clearly delineating that such mobility-assistance equipment and non-motorized devices like skateboards, roller blades and manual scooters are allowed on sidewalks. Children under 13 riding bikes are also still allowed on sidewalks. Bicycles for those over 13 and motorized devices are not allowed on sidewalks.” Read the full article.

Beautiful Backroads Century

On September 19th, the 26th Beautiful Backroads Century Bicycle Ride (BBC) returns with an even larger after ride party – Music. Food. Drinks. Entertainment & Brewery Tours. This ride features the rolling hills and country roads of north Georgia with full “on-course” support including Rest Stops and SAG vehicles.
The ride starts and finishes at the Anheuser-Busch plant in Cartersville. If you’re local, you already know that the “Budplant” provides free parking every weekend with Cyclists often filling the parking lot. On this one Saturday a year, let’s give back to the community by riding the BBC to raise money for Hickory Log — a local, personal care home for men with special needs. The roads are (mostly) repaved, the routes clearly marked, and to download on the BBCBikeRide.com website. Ride distances for all abilitie from 14-miles to 102-miles. The drinks will be cold and the food hot.
2027 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships Headed to Asheville, NC

Gran Fondo National Series and USA Cycling have announced that the 2027 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships event will be held in conjunction with Gran Fondo Asheville in Asheville, N.C., on July 18, 2027, with the Applewood Manor Foundation as the presenting sponsor.
Gran Fondo National Series Director, Reuben Kline, commented, “With the success of the Gran Fondo National Championships events over the past five years, several communities submitted competitive bids for hosting the event in 2027. With support from the City of Asheville and The Applewood Manor Foundation, we look forward to delivering a great event for cyclists in Asheville on July 18, 2027.”
National Championships Qualifying Cyclists must qualify to compete in the Gran Fondo National Championships event through participation and/or results at Gran Fondo National Series-organized events, partner events, E-Fondo events on the ROUVY indoor cycling app, or through USA Cycling state and regional championship events. Gran Fondo National Champions will be determined through timed-segment competitions for age-group male and female cyclists who complete on the Gran Route course of Gran Fondo Asheville.
