Boyd Cycling Has New CEO
From Bicycle Retailer
“GREENVILLE, S.C. (BRAIN) — Co-founder Nicole Johnson is now CEO of Boyd Cycling, succeeding Boyd Johnson, who will concentrate on engineering and product development.

The company said in a news release that the transition comes as Boyd Cycling is accelerating domestic manufacturing of carbon fiber and alloy rims. Nicole Johnson’s promotion has been years in the making, the brand said, with it aligning with the expansion of stateside production.

“This is a pivotal time for our industry,” she said. “Bringing production to the U.S. means faster solutions for our partners and more stability in the supply chain. I’m energized by the momentum we’ve built and excited to lead Boyd Cycling into its next chapter.”

Boyd Cycling’s U.S. manufacturing foundation was established in 2022 with the launch of Olive Manufacturing Group, enabling aluminum rim production domestically. That production began in 2023.In 2024, Boyd Cycling acquired Munich Composites, a German carbon rim manufacturer, and secured control of carbon fiber automation, patents, and intellectual property.” (Trish’s Notes: Nicole is Boyd’s wife. Olive is their adorable daughter. All in the family! Great people and wonderful company. I’ve been running Boyd wheels on my CX bikes for more than a decade. Blu the e-bike has a pair of carbon Pinnacle gravel wheels that ride really well.) Read the full article.

Enterprise South Trails to Remain Open
From Singletracks.com
“After Hamilton County proposed swapping 535 acres of Enterprise South Nature Park for industrial development—threatening six miles of the network’s best singletrack—more than 12,000 people signed a petition and the county reversed course, preserving the trails for recreation.

For a few tense months, mountain bikers in Chattanooga, TN, faced losing six miles of their best singletrack to industrial development. The proposed land swap at Enterprise South Nature Park would have eliminated 38% of the bike-legal trails in the network. But after public outcry, Hamilton County has dropped plans to change the park’s deed restrictions, preserving the land for recreation and conservation.” Read the full article.

RECOMMENDED EVENTS – SNAKE CREEK GAP TIME TRIALS!
While we can’t take credit for this event, I highly recommend it if you like challenging technical trails and spending the day in the mountains with like minded people. Check out NWGA SORBA’s Snake Creek Gap Time Trials. Race Dates are February 7 and March 14 in Dalton, GA. Two events for one price and a great way to dust off the winter cobwebs. Free character building and great stories if the weather isn’t ideal. Trish’s Note: I’ve ridden the 17 mile course both ways over the year. Even in good weather it’s character building. It’s a TOUGH race. I’ve heard the tales of the rainy and snowy races. It will be epic either way!

Neumuller Neighborhood Cleanup Day – A Tribute to Travis
From his friends
Sunday, Jan 11, 2026
As many of you know, Travis Neumuller spent most Sunday mornings cleaning up a selected area of litter, trash and debris.  Often these areas were in his immediate neighborhood or on his bike route to and from work.  Without fanfare or being asked, Travis would go out and collect trash, tracking his route on Strava.  He would then post a photo of the result and post that on Strava.

Neumuller Neighborhood Cleanup Day will be on Sunday, Jan 11.  We are asking that folks spend at least 1 hour on a cleanup in an area near their home where it is safe to do so.  Track your progress on Strava and when finished, take a photo afterward with their trash collection and wearing their normal cycling jersey.  Post your photo on Strava, our FB page and send us the photo for the collage in Travis’s honor to jstarbry2000 at yahoo dot com.

Kirk Corsello Passed Away
For those who have not heard, beloved Atlanta racer Kirk Corsello passed away on Christmas Day. He was helping a neighbor with trying to catch their dog. A car began rolling down the hill and pinned him between it and another object. Despite a swift response from the fire department Kirk succumbed from his injuries. My heart goes out to his wife, children, and all of his friends. Kirk as a very giving person and would do anything for a friend.

A story–a few years ago I had an underground wasp nest in my front yard. Kirk owned a pest control company and came over to get rid of it for me. I was grateful as I’d gotten stung about a dozen times the previous weekend. He was always helping someone-his heart was that big.
