From Georgia Cross and the Dick Lane Velodrome
It’s not Track Racing. It’s Cyclocross Racing, and it’ll be at the velodrome this Sunday from 8:00 – 4:00 (Elite Women at 1:15 and Elite Men start at 2:15). Brought to you by the East Point Track Club and Georgia Cyclocross, it’s basically the same attitude, vibe and entertainment value as track racing, just different bikes and with riders jumping over obstacles and running their bikes up things. (yes, we agree, running with a bike seems silly, but who are we to judge? We only have one gear on our bikes) http://www.georgia-cx.com
It’s free to come and watch, and it’s a blast, and they’ll have hotdogs, so what else could you want? (Okay, burgers too, drinks, and other treats.) We encourage everyone to wear a costume but don’t feel like you have to.

We have a venue for the NCCX race this Sunday! We will be racing in Rock Hill, SC at Westminster Park just outside of Charlotte, NC. Bud Plant Parking Lot Closed
From North Atlanta Riding Club
The Bud Plant parking lot will be temporarily closed to cyclists from October 23rd until the end of the year.
The parking lot will reopen for our use at the beginning of the year. In the meantime, consider using Sosebee Cycle Park at 465 Simpson Rd NE, White, GA. Sosebee Cycle Park is a privately funded, donation-based parking area for cyclists. Donations to the park can be made online https://sosebeecyclingpark.com/support-park. Let’s all remember how fortunate we are to have (relatively) light traffic and safe roads just a short distance from metro Atlanta. Many thanks to Anheuser-Busch, Cartersville, for sharing their parking lot with us these many years. See you in 2025!

Grant Park CX
Grant Park CX is this weekend! This is always a huge party! Grab your bikes, your friends (talk them into racing!), and come on down!
Course: There will be subtle changes on tap for this year. That said, overall it will be the same course that everyone knows loves and hates 😉 It will have balanced features to suit the technically gifted as well as the power adept.
Food: Nothing official but I know folks are planning to “tailgate”, grilling out, etc. Grant Central Pizza and Dakota Blue are right around the corner as well.
Party on the Hill: Loose Nuts guys will keep the party going after Summerhill with their raucous crowd along the off cambered hill near start/finish
Prizes: Great Maxxis and Lactigo products for awards. Cash Payout and Medals for other categories as denoted on the flyer
Parking: Street parking along Park Ave is the way to go with easy access to registration, spectating, portable restrooms. Plenty of other street parking available throughout the area
Number Placement: Pin numbers on the right
Junior’s Races: Parks Law has generously covered the fees for all Juniors! Please spread the word. We would love to see this being our largest field of the day.
Saturday Setup: L5F and Paceline will have a team setting up the course Saturday evening. No guarantee that the course will be in pre-ride condition before sunset. Sorry everyone!
Tent Setup: Fair game anywhere on the course. The eastside of the start/finish straight in the grass under the tree canopy is our go-to spot.

The course covers all the trails at Rope Mill Park! Solo, 2 and 3 person beginner/family team categories are available in the duathlon. We will be using traditional mountain bike race categories, as we have done in the past, to help alleviate congestion on the opening bike loop. The run is short enough that those who do not typically run still have plenty of time to start training! We are also offering a separate 3.3 mile trail run on the Explorer Trails at this event for those who would prefer to just participate in a run. The run starts before the duathlon and is open to all runners, hikers and walkers! All participants receive a super comfy t-shirt and FREE RACE PHOTO DOWNLOADS from Dashing Images! Prizes and medals presented to the top 3 in each duathlon category. Medals presented to the top 3 in each age group in the run, as well as prizes for the top 3 overall M/F thanks to Fleet Feet Canton! Post race snacks and drinks for all participants!

Joey Rosskopf Retirement
Joey Rosskopf has announced his retirement from pro cycling on Instagram:
Time to call time for this old dog. In the next few weeks I’ll be finishing up my last races EVER (at the pro level anyway; I may remain a hobbyist 😉). Fifteen years of racing full time.
Don’t call it a career. Don’t call it a retirement. Because I need a J-O-B! Still inspired by what the bike brings to people’s lives, and I would love to stay in any branch of the industry. Or hey, I’d be just as happy shadowing a handyman until I learn enough to earn my keep. Open to suggestions! All I know is I’m hungry to keep stepping and keep learning.
Tryon Gravel Gallop Postponed
From Southeast Gravel
We have been receiving constant messages, and we are sorry we can’t respond to everyone. For those of you that don’t know, Hurricane Helene has caused some serious damage in our Upstate area and even worst to the north, especially Hot Springs. At this point a bike race just doesn’t seem that important, the town of Tryon is in very bad shape. The last thing we want to do is bring a bunch of unneeded congestion into a small town that is trying to put its self back together. We are working on a few postponement plans, but please bear with us as we are still without power and trying to get back to normal life ourselves. We will likely be without power in Greenville until Friday. We will make an announcement soon, until then take care of yourself especially if you’re in an affected area.
