Fools Gold MTB Race Press Release The 2021 Maxxis Tires Fools Gold will be held on September 11, 2021 at the beautiful Montaluce Winery, in Dahlonega, GA. The Fool’s Gold Mountain Bike Races will again offer riders a 38 mile or 60 mile course. Primitive camping is available at Montaluce Winery for Friday and Saturday nights.
Both courses begin at Montaluce Winery and will have approximately 3 miles on pavement, then transition to gravel roads. The 60 mile course begins with a stout 3 mile gravel road climb and takes riders to some great “backcountry style” trails and lesser known roads. The 38 mile course heads directly to the Jones Creek Ridge Singletrack Trail along gravel roads, giving riders the opportunity to space out before hitting nearly 30 miles of fast singletrack.

TONS of good stuff included: ▪ Challenging course that features hard climbs, fast descents and sweet flowy singletrack that you will feel good about finishing. ▪ Cash payout for the Open Men/Open Women’s classes in both the 38 and 60 mile race. ▪ Cash prizes for all first place finishers in the non-open categories in the 60 mile race. Full details on payouts/prizes can be found HERE. ▪ Free Camping at Montaluce Winery! ▪ Terrapin Beer and Moe’s for post-race calorie replenishment! ▪ Highly visible Course Markings and Course Marshals ▪ Finisher awards for all finishers in both races ▪ Custom awards for all podium finishers in both races ▪ Soft and comfy race shirt – size guaranteed if you register by the size deadline of August 28th. ▪ Aid stations with plenty of calories, fluids, mechanical support and first aid supplies.

We are looking for folks who’d like to volunteer for this year’s Fool’s Gold Mountain Bike Race! We take good care of our crew and offer a Fool’s Gold or Southern Cross entry for adults who commit to a 6 hour shift (for yourself or you can earn an entry for a spouse/friend). We need helpers for registration, aid stations, course marshals, as well as at Montaluce Winery and Restaurant to keep an eye on the beer. We also have a limited number of positions available for Friday night registration and post-race help, for folks who want to volunteer AND still race. If you are interested in helping out, please contact lisa@mountaingoatadventures.com and let me know your shirt size, availability and any task preference. Course Marshals and Aid Station helpers will need to have transportation out to their location. Thanks in advance!

6-29-2021 UrbanCross Press Release UrbanCross is a fun, short, closed course blending elements of MTB, CycloCross, and Enduro racing in a two “Moto” format under the night lights of the downtown Cumming Fairgrounds. July 17, 2021. Have fun and be competitive racing just about any type of bike because the course incorporates many cycling disciplines. It is laid out to reward rider skills on multiple surfaces and elevation changes without intimidating the beginners. The start and finish areas will be exciting for spectators under or visible from the covered arena seating. All types of pedal bikes will race together in age, skill, and M/F classifications (MTB vs CX vs FR vs DH vs GRVL, etc). Taking it to another level, the Class 1 electric riders will race in their own skill and M/F classifications. There will be a full range of youth-age classifications including a strider class for the 6 and under riders. First race is at 6:00PM. Sign-up at 3:00PM. Practice at 4:00PM.

The racing format will be an exciting two-moto format from a 20 person wide start line; each moto is a cardio/sprint of 5 to 15 minutes and the lowest two-moto score wins (1pt for 1st, 2pts for 2nd, etc); 2nd-moto is the tiebreaker; a DNF (Did Not Finish) is considered last place points, so don’t quit! The closed course is entirely on the Cumming Fairground property and consists of natural and manmade surfaces. Obstacles may include sand, gravel, grass, slopes, asphalt, concrete, RR ties, sand bags, stairs, etc. Rideable by the average rider and challenging to the Exp/Pros. Racecourse sections and race length may be rerouted in the interest of Age, Safety, Time, and Ability.
If you think you are a fit rider, then enter more than one classification to get an extra bit of cardio/sprint training on a single evening of intense racing.
