Terri Palmeri Retires from SORBA

From SORBA and Terri Palmeri
I will retire as Executive Director of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association at the end of 2022. It’s been a long and inspiring journey for the past 18 years with my love of mountain biking. It all started when I accepted an invitation from my future husband, Mike Palmeri on a mountain bike trip to Wales, UK in 2004. I was already an avid road cyclist and I thought “what the heck” how hard can it be to ride a bike in the woods? Three months later, with many cuts, scrapes, and bruises, we joined a group of fellow mountain bikers on a guided mountain bike tour of Wales. I had a wonderful time and was inspired by the local trail systems that our guide commented had changed the fabric of communities and local economies for the better. Bike for Boys & Girls Clubs Ride Cancelled
From the Promoter
We are saddened to announce the cancellation of the 2022 Bike for Boys & Girls Clubs Ride scheduled for this Saturday, October 1st. After several discussions with the Washington County Emergency Management Agency and local officials, we believe canceling this year’s ride is the safest and most prudent thing to do due to expected winds and our heavy reliance on local emergency responders to carry out this event safely. This is with much regret, as much planning, time, and resources have gone into this event to make it both a success for our Washington County Boys & Girls Club and a memorable experience for our riders! We hope you will join us at the 2023 Bike for Boys & Girls Clubs Ride.

Dear AFO Participants – In the interests of safety and participant enjoyment, and given the severity of the expected weather conditions this weekend, the Board of the Van Purser Foundation has decided to postpone the AFO 29/64/100 to Saturday, October 15. We hope that the revised date will fit everyone’s schedule, and that Mother Nature will bless us with pleasant weather as she has in prior years. Planning and conducting this large event requires a considerable volunteer effort, and we hope our volunteers will be able to shift to the 15th. If you’re a volunteer and cannot make it, then please let us know ASAP. Also, for the sake of goodwill and participant relations, the Board will offer a refund to any registrant that cannot participate on the 15th. Given the mission of the foundation, we respectfully request you to consider your unused registration fee a donation to the foundation. Break-Ins at MTB Trails

From MTB Gwinnett
Do not leave anything valuable in plain sight in your cars at the park. Harbins Park had 2 cars with windows broken out last Saturday in the middle of the day. This has been going on for years at Yellow River Park for years in playground, bike and equestrian lots. Your best defense is to park away from other cars, leaving a minimum of 2 spots between. These thieves get in between two cars acting like they are getting in or lost their keys, then use a towel to soften the blow. Keep an eye out for your fellow Mountain Biker‘s cars. Trish’s reminder: Always take or hide your purse, laptop, bag, wallet, etc. Always always always take your keys, driver’s license, and phone with you.
